Amber Berman: Dare to step up and step out
Most of us who live in Springfield are aware of a distinct culture of community service, a large group of altruists, who spend a lot of time doing what they can to help make our world a better place.
As a new mother, I don’t always have time to volunteer every weekend. However, I am in a position to motivate students at Lincoln Land Community College to care about our community.
When it comes to volunteer activities, it is not always easy to get college students involved. Some think they are too busy to do community service or that it would be boring. I’ve also heard the comment, “No one is helping me; why should I help them?”
