Mark Buttell: Catholic Charities going mobile to meet growing needs
Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois has a long history of service in the community.
It all began in 1925 when Bishop James Griffin founded the Catholic Charities Agency as a coordinated effort to unite several Catholic lay organizations that utilized volunteers to serve the poor and disadvantaged members of the local community.
Since its inception, Catholic Charities has served all people with dignity and respect regardless of race, creed, gender or religious affiliation.
The most recent Catholic Charities Annual Report includes a caption, “Caring for those who need it most.”
