Can You Live On An ALICE Budget?: A simulation to show the tough decisions ALICE families make everyday
Recorded Friday April 16th, 2021 at 9:15 a.m.
ALICE are our families, neighbors and colleagues who work hard, earn above the federal poverty level, but not enough to afford a basic household budget of housing, child car, food, transportation and health care. When the dollars run out, ALICE families are forced to make difficult short-term choices that can result in long-term consequences.
For example, paying the heating bill instead of rent or deciding to purchase essential medication instead of putting dinner on the table. These choices are not easy. What would you do? Watch as our attendees participated in a virtual exercise to see if they can make it on an ALICE budget. If you would like to participate in this simulation, please contact our Community Impact team.
United We Learn is a new opportunity to learn more about United Way and our work in the community. These virtual learning sessions are offered and hosted by United Way of Central Illinois. Each session will only last for fifteen minutes and will be recorded so they can be viewed at a later time.
