This year Team BUNN is chairing the 2018 United Way Campaign. Team BUNN members include Hy Bunn, Bob Bunn, John Voss, Desiree Logsdon and Angela Comstock. We are excited to assist in spearheading this year’s campaign because we think our local United Way plays a critically important role in our community. Their focus is not on a single cause, but on the multiple issues which affect our families, our friends and our businesses. United Way is there to ensure services are available for both those in crisis and those working to improve their lives.
For companies like BUNN, United Way provides both an outlet for our employees to support the causes they care about as well as services our employees can access if and when they need help. Over the years, we’ve seen firsthand the importance of these programs and how they have helped our employees, our families and our community. United Way and its partners are there to help when a disaster occurs, when families are struggling financially and when a child needs a little help to achieve their maximum potential.
United Way is a driving force behind positive change — surrounding our community’s most critical problems and working together with their partners to develop results-driven solutions to those challenges. Their work benefits everyone in our community by advancing solutions that lead to a more educated and skilled work force, providing families with the tools and resources to lead financially stable lives and ensuring programs exist to keep children off the streets and in the classroom.
As the chairs of this year’s United Way campaign, we invite each of you to learn more about United Way, their partners and how their work affects us all. We also encourage you to learn how United Way works with local businesses and donors to support your philanthropic goals.
As a local employer, we are proud that our United Way offers our employees the ability to designate a gift directly to any IRS recognized nonprofit or to United Way’s Community Fund that is vital in supporting local services. Due to the generosity of seven local employers underwriting the administrative and fundraising costs of the organization, every donation made this year goes directly to program services. This includes both gifts to United Way’s Community Fund and directed gifts to specified nonprofits.
Last year, with your support, more than $1.5 million was raised for United Way’s Community Fund, and every dollar benefited 34 local programs addressing specific priorities in the core areas of basic needs, education, financial stability and health. In addition, your support provided more than $500,000 in funding to other nonprofits, nearly all local organizations.
We invite each of you to join Team BUNN in support of United Way during this year’s annual campaign. We encourage you to visit www.springfieldunitedway.org to learn more about their work and to pledge your support. Your support of United Way and its partners is greatly appreciated. After all, we have one life, and to live better, we must Live United.
