United Way of Central Illinois and Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Illinois are partnering with Walgreens to hold a free flu shot clinic at Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Illinois on Saturday, December 14, 2013. The event will take place at 300 S. 15th Street in Springfield from 2:00pm to 4:30pm.
Staff from area Walgreens stores will be on hand to administer vaccinations to area residents, including individuals not currently covered by insurance. Immunizations will be available for individuals 10 years of age and older. A parent or legal guardian of children, ages 10-17, must be present to sign flu shot forms.
The free flu shot event is part of a Walgreen’s campaign to highlight the importance of annual influenza vaccinations during National Influenza Vaccination Week and Vaccinate Illinois Week (December 8-14).
“The uninsured are often the same individuals who can least afford to miss work due to having the flu,” said John Kelker, president of United Way of Central Illinois. “It is wonderful to see organizations, such as Walgreens, working to protect the health of families throughout our community.”
