UNITED WAY OF CENTRAL ILLINOIS ANNOUNCES 2021 CAMPAIGN CHAIRS

SPRINGFIELD, IL – United Way Board Chair Cass Casper has announced that this year’s community fundraising efforts will be led by Springfield Public Schools Superintendent, Jennifer Gill, and Director of School Leadership and Family and Community Engagement, Terrance Jordan. Superintendent Gill, a former United Way board member and Mr. Jordan, currently a board member, bring a unique perspective to this year’s campaign, having worked with so many families facing the very challenges United Way’s funded partners address every day. Cass Casper stated, “Many of Springfield’s most distinguished citizens have led the annual campaign over the years, and we are honored that Superintendent Gill and Terrance Jordan will lead this year’s United Way Campaign”.

Superintendent Gill and Mr. Jordan stated, “We are excited to unite our community under our campaign theme of Better Together for a Better Tomorrow, while working to build our community back up”.

Last year, Frank and Peggy Lynch, took on the monumental task of leading one of the most challenging annual campaigns in history. Frank Lynch stated, “Our entire community is in a better position as we move through 2021 due to the work our community put in to live UNITED.”

Support of the annual United Way campaign not only provides for the basic needs of families but also provides access to educational supports, healthcare, job skills training, and stable housing. Each gift helps United Way partner programs tackle these challenges in a thoughtful and measured way.

United Way President John Kelker stated, “he is happy to have Superintendent Gill and Mr. Jordan supporting their mission to address the basic needs, education, financial stability, and health of every person in our community. Under Superintendent Gill, Springfield School District 186 has been a wonderful partner to United Way and understands that by being Better Together the community’s most critical services will be available while recovering and rebuilding our local community.

United Way’s 2021 campaign will kick off in early September following a number of company and agency campaigns running as Pacesetters which will be recognized at the kickoff event.
