United Way of Central Illinois Receives $25,000 From NO KID HUNGRY

We graciously were awarded $25,000 from Share Our Strengths, an organization working to end hunger and poverty, as a part of their No Kid Hungry Campaign. These funds supported increased food access for children served through our five summer learning programs.

• Brandon Outreach and Freedom School with Springfield Urban League,

• Camp Compass with Compass for Kids,

• Camp Kindergarten with Springfield Public Schools District 186, and

• Project Learn with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Illinois

Each of these summer programs offered children two nutritious meals during the day through their summer feeding programs, and the additional support they received expanded their ability to close gaps for evening and weekend meals.

One in four children faces hunger this year because of COVID19. Thanks to this grant we helped ensure all our students had the food they needed to learn, grow and achieve last summer!
