United Way of Central Illinois Receives $25,000 From NO KID HUNGRY

We graciously were awarded $25,000 from No Kid Hungry, an organization working to end hunger and poverty, as a part of their Share Our Strength’s Campaign. These funds will support increased food access for children served through five summer learning programs.

• Brandon Outreach and Freedom School with Springfield Urban League,
• Camp Compass with Compass for Kids,
• Camp Kindergarten with Springfield Public Schools District 186, and
• Project Learn with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Illinois

Each of these summer programs offer their children two nutritious meals during the day through the summer feeding program, and this additional support will expand their ability to close gaps for evening and weekend meals.

One in four children could face hunger this year because of COVID19. Thanks to this grant we’re helping ensure all our students have the food they need to learn, grown and achieve!
