Making the Grade is a way for members of the community to reach out to our young people and encourage them to pursue academic excellence. Making the Grade provides students with a way to help them reflect on their academic performance and to motivate them for the rest of the quarter. This also acts as an intervention system for students to get any help they may need.

During a ½ day event four times a year, community volunteers visit the school to meet with students for one-on-one sessions to review student learning.

During this 5-10 minute session with each student, volunteers review the students’ grades and discuss issues such as homework, work ethic, issues in the classroom, attendance, and planning for the future.

There will be a brief volunteer training session for new volunteers. Following the training, you will begin meeting with students. Refreshments will be provided. We ask that you consider participating and pass this invitation on to anyone who may be interested in helping out.
