SPRINGFIELD – United Way of Central Illinois
will mobilize close to 300 people in our community to participate in Day of Action. In its third year, United Way’s community-wide day of service continues to grow as more individuals have registered to volunteer than ever before. Participants will work on projects at social service agencies throughout Springfield this Friday, October 5th, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Day of Action is held in the spring and fall, giving individuals and groups the opportunity to complete community service projects. Last April, over 200 volunteers participated contributing over 800 hours of service. Volunteers already committed to this year’s event come from 21 from local companies, organizations and schools including:

|Illini Bank||Westpoint Financial Group|
|Illinois Bankers Association|
Projects include such activities as cleaning, landscaping, painting, sorting clothes, packing and moving furniture at 17 local nonprofit organizations. Each activity will help these organizations that struggle to address the growing need in our community.
